Mower County reports fourth COVID-19 related death
Officials with the Minnesota Department of Health stated that Mower County reported its fourth COVID-19 death on Saturday. .
The person was between 75 and 79 years old.
Eight additional deaths were reported across the state, with seven of those involving residents of long-term care or assisted living facilities. The new deaths increased the state’s cumulative death total to 1,906, of which 1,389 were residents of long-term care or assisted living facilities.
Statewide, 929 new cases were reported, increasing the state’s cumulative total to 83,588. Of that number, 76,650 are no longer in isolation, and 247 are hospitalized, including 140 in intensive care.
Besides the one additional death, Mower County recorded six new COVID-19 cases Saturday for a cumulative total of 1,228. Pam Kellogg, Division Manager for Mower County Health and Human Services stated that there are approximately 30 active cases in the county at this time, with 85-90% of those cases residing in the city of Austin. Freeborn County reported two new cases Saturday for a cumulative total of 442. The Freeborn County Public Health Department reported that the county currently has 32 active cases, and one person is hospitalized.
