Mower County records 39th COVID-19 related death, 31 additional cases Monday for cumulative total  of 5,969

Mower County recorded its 39th COVID-19 related death over the weekend in an individual 85-89 years of age, according to statistics released Monday by the Minnesota Department of Health.  The county also logged 5,779 confirmed and 190 probable COVID-19 cases Monday for a cumulative total of 5,969 since the onset of the pandemic, a rise of 31 from Saturday and Sunday.  Pam Kellogg, Division Manager with Mower County Health and Human Services reported that there are approximately 225 active COVID-19 cases currently in Mower County, the highest total in the county since the peak of the pandemic last November.

Olmsted County recorded 16,823 cumulative cases Monday, up 89 from over the weekend, Steele County reported 5,406 cumulative COVID-19 cases Monday a rise of 32 from Saturday and Sunday and Freeborn County confirmed 4,541 cumulative COVID-19 cases Monday, up 34 from over the weekend.  Dodge County now has 2,561 cumulative cases, up 17 from Saturday and Sunday and Fillmore County recorded 2,127 cumulative cases Monday, up 16 from over the weekend.

The Minnesota Department of Health reported 3,546 positive COVID-19 tests in the state Monday for a cumulative total of 718,327, and they added that 21 additional COVID-19 related deaths were recorded in the state from Friday to Monday for a cumulative total of 8,191 since the onset of the pandemic.  A total of 38,224 COVID-19 patients in Minnesota have required hospitalization since the start of the pandemic, and 7,742 of those patients have required treatment in intensive care units.
