The Mower County Board of Commissioners set the levy increase for the county for 2023 at 1.9% during a work session held in the commissioner’s room at the Mower County Government Center Tuesday afternoon.  The 2023 levy had been set at 2.1% heading into the work session, which was down from the preliminary figure of 5.5%, and Mower County Administrator Trish Harren talked with KAUS News about how the levy increase for 2023 was lowered from 5.5% to now 1.8%…

The board will look to pass an official resolution setting the county’s budget and levy for 2023 at their regularly scheduled meeting next Tuesday, September 13th.  Budgets and levies for counties and cities in MInnesota for 2023 must be set before September 30th.  After that date, the levy can be lowered, but not raised before the final budget and levy for the county for 2023 are set at the board’s final meeting for 2022 in December.
