The Minnesota State Patrol is investigating a two-vehicle accident with a fatality that occurred at 5:40 a.m. this morning on U.S. Highway 218, approximately one mile south of Blooming Prairie in Westfield Township of Dodge County.  

The State Patrol reported that a Toyota Camry being driven by a 27-year old male from Austin was southbound on Highway 218 when it collided with a northbound GMC Acadia being driven by a 44-year old male from Austin, and after the collision, the Toyota caught fire.  The State Patrol went on to report that the road was covered with snow and ice at the time of the accident, and they added that the identities of those involved in the accident have not yet been released pending notification of family. 

Sheriff’s Offices from Mower, Dodge and Steele Counties assisted the State Patrol at the accident scene.
