Minnesota House passes major public school funding bill

A mandate that all Minnesota school districts have comprehensive sex education programs remains in a major public school funding bill the Minnesota House passed Tuesday night over Republicans’ objections.  State District 27A Peggy Bennett, Republican from Albert Lea says Planned Parenthood is pushing curriculum drawn from a controversial book:

State District 20B Representative Todd Lippert, a DFL’er from Northfield responds any instruction must be appropriate for age level, and beyond that…

Lippert notes school districts could also opt out of the standard curriculum.  Opponents respond districts would still be required to have comprehensive sex education programs.
