Minnesota House and Senate remain at an impasse over funding to offset the high cost of insulin

The Democrat-controlled Minnesota House recently passed a controversial insulin assistance package that would put a fee on drug makers, setting up a continued dispute with the Republican-controlled Senate. KAUS spoke with District 27 Senator Dan Sparks, DFL’er from Austin who stated that after hearing horror stories from those affected by the high cost of insulin during testimony at the State Capitol building, he hopes a compromise between the two sides can be reached sooner rather than later….

House DFL’ers and Governor Tim Walz have stated that the proposed fee on drug manufacturers is about holding them accountable for their part in not just creating a crisis, but profiting richly from it.  Senate Republicans have indicated that drug makers are willing to provide free insulin to those who can’t afford it. Democrats respond that some people would be left out.
