MDH reports one additional COVID-19 related death, 22 additional cases Friday for a cumulative total of 3,601

The Minnesota Department of Health has now reported over 443,000 positive COVID-19 cases since the start of the pandemic.

Health officials reported 1,640 positive tests  in the state Friday for a cumulative statewide total of 443,562.  Health officials added that 34,594 healthcare workers in the state have now tested positive for the virus since the start of the pandemic.  More than 422,200 people have been reported as no longer needing isolation.

Mower County reported one additional COVID-19 related death Friday to bring the county’s total to 27 since the start of the pandemic.  The Minnesota Department of Health reported that the person who passed away was from 80-84 years old.  The county also recorded 3,538 confirmed and 63 probable COVID-19 cases Friday for a cumulative total of 3,601 since the pandemic started, up 22 from Thursday.  Olmsted County now has 10,316 cumulative cases, up 67 from Thursday, Steele County reported 2,701 cumulative cases Friday, a rise of 14 from Thursday and Freeborn County recorded 2,387 cumulative COVID-19 cases Friday, up 15 from Thursday.  Dodge County now has 1,324 cumulative COVID-19 cases, an increase of 11 from Thursday and Fillmore County reported 1,213 cases overall Friday, up five from Thursday.

Minnesota’s death toll from the coronavirus rose by 33 Friday to a total of 5,850 since the pandemic started.  Health officials reported that 3,734 COVID-19 related deaths thus far in the state have occurred in cases that resided in long-term care, or assisted living facilities.

A total of 23,185 COVID-19 patients in Minnesota have required hospitalization since the pandemic started, and 4,850 of those patients have required treatment in intensive care units.
