MDH records 66th COVID-19 related death in Mower County Wednesday, five additional cases

For the second day in a row Wednesday, the Minnesota Department of Health reported a COVID-19 related death in Mower County, its 66th since the onset of the pandemic in an individual in an individual 85-89 years of age.  The Department of Health also logged 11,107 confirmed and 479 probable COVID-19 cases in the county Wednesday for a cumulative total of 11,586, up only five from Tuesday compared with 34 from Monday to Tuesday.  Health officials stated that the total number of positive cases, including reinfections for the duration of the pandemic now stands at 1,400,624, and over 1,372,000 people have now been determined as no longer needing isolation.

Olmsted County recorded 39,022 cumulative cases Wednesday, a rise of 50 from Tuesday, Steele County reported 10,085 cumulative cases Wednesday, up 11 from Tuesday and Freeborn County confirmed 8,764 cumulative COVID-19 cases Wednesday, up seven from Tuesday.  Dodge County now has 5,502 cumulative cases, which was unchanged from Tuesday and Fillmore County recorded 4,528 cumulative cases Wednesday, up one from Tuesday.

The Minnesota Department of Health reported 1,501 positive COVID-19 tests in the state Wednesday for a cumulative total of 1,343,746, and they added that 41 additional COVID-19 related deaths were recorded in the state from Tuesday to Wednesday for a cumulative total of 11,903 since the onset of the pandemic. A total of 59,621 COVID-19 patients in Minnesota have required hospitalization since the start of the pandemic, and 11,054 of those patients have required treatment in intensive care units.
