Mayo Clinic physician addresses sharp rise in COVID-19 cases in Mower County

The Minnesota Department of Health reported that Mower County has recorded 46 new positive COVID-19 cases in the last five days for a total of 650.   KAUS News spoke with Dr. Deepi Goyal, Mayo Clinic Health System Regional Chairman of Clinical Practice and Emergency Medicine Physician for southeast Minnesota who attributed the sharp rise in cases to such factors as increased testing for employees of such businesses as Hormel Foods and Quality Pork Processors and their families, also to the virus being spread through entire families, carpools and apartment complexes, plus he added that the partnership announced last week between Mower County Public Health, Mayo Clinic Health System, Hormel Foods and QPP to create a targeted testing program as part of a multi-phase approach for a community-wide response to COVID-19 will hopefully slow the spread of the virus in Mower County…

Mower County Health and Human Services asks residents of the county to seek medical attention when symptoms of COVID-19 first appear.  Please call (507) 433-7351 to connect with the Mayo Clinic-Austin triage line for a COVID-19 screening.
