Lyle/Pacelli falls to Randolph in 1A quarterfinals 68-57

Cole Walter, who had not played due to injury since February 9th swished four 3-pointers in the first half to help lead the sixth-seeded Lyle/Pacelli Athletics to a 20-11 lead over third-seeded Randolph, but the Rockets closed out the half on a 19-6 run to lead 30-26 at the half on their way to a 68-57 win in the Section 1A boys’ basketball quarterfinals at the Mayo Civic Auditorium in Rochester.

Nick Drinken and Devon Schultz helped to lead the first half comeback for the Rockets, as Drinken continually drove the ball to the hoop and scored 15 of his 25 points in the half to carry Randolph offensivley.  Schultz drilled two of his three 3-point field goals in the first half and wound up supplying 13 points off of the Rocket bench.  LP edged in front 33-32 early in the second half, but Randolph answered with an 8-1 run to move back in front to stay and steadily pulled away with the help of such players as Isaac Stoez, who scored 12 of his 14 points in the second half.

Walter wound up with 22 points, four rebounds and three assists, while Buay Koak tallied ten points.  Jed Nelson added nine points, while Sam Nelson scored seven points, Zach Bollingberg chipped in five points and senior post Mach Diang tallied four points for Lyle/Pacelli, who finishes a great season with a record of 19-8.
