Lyle/Pacelli downs Blooming Prairie 67-62 in non-conference boys basketball Monday evening
The Blooming Prairie Awesome Blossoms boys basketball team was looking to snap a two-game losing streak at home Monday evening in a non-conference matchup with Lyle/Pacelli, and it was guard Buay Koak registering a double-double with 33 points and 10 rebounds as the Athletics pulled away just enough from a 31-31 tie at the half to hold off the Blossoms down the stretch to win 67-62.
Koak swished three of LP’s 10 3-point field goals in the game, plus he added four assists in the winning effort, Jake Truckenmiller tallied 15 points, seven rebounds, two assists and two steals, David Christianson chipped in nine points, three rebounds, one assist and three steals to lead LP in that category, Landon Meyer scored five points, Mitchell Johnson tallied three points and Trey Anderson added two points in the win. For Blooming Prairie, Drew Kittleson was one of two Blossoms to register a double-double with a monster effort of 21 points and 14 rebounds, Colin Jordinson was the other Blossom with a double-double of 14 points and 10 rebounds, Brady Kittleson and Payton Fristedt were both in double figures with 13 and 10 points, respectivley, and Zack Hein added four points in the loss, which leaves Blooming Prairie with a record of 1-5 overall on the season.
With the win, their fifth in their last seven games, the Athletics move to 7-2 on the season, and they return to action Friday night at Pacelli versus Southeast Conference foe Southland, with the varsity tip-off at 7:15 p.m. You’ll hear the game live from All Saints Arena right here on AM 1480 KAUS, with the pre-game show starting at 7:00 p.m. Friday evening.
