Lyle/Pacelli boys’ basketball wins fifth in a row with 62-50 win over Schaeffer Academy

The Lyle/Pacelli Athletics boys’ basketball team was looking for win number five in a row in Rochester Thursday evening versus the Schaeffer Academy Lions in a Southeast Conference matchup, and junior guard Buay Koak narrowly missed a double-double with 19 points, nine rebounds, two assists, a steal and two blocked shots to help lead the Athletics to a 62-50 win.

The Athletics led 35-23 at the half, and they continued to shoot the ball well Thursday night as the squad went 26 for 54 overall from the field for 48.1%, including a white-hot 22 of 34 from 2-point range for 64.7%.  Besides Koak’s 19 points, Jake Truckenmiller added 14 points, two rebounds, five assists and a steal, Trey Anderson tallied eight points, six rebounds and three assists, David Christianson also chipped in eight points, Mac Nelson scored seven points and added a team-high two steals, Hunter Bauer tallied four points and Landon Meyer scored two points for the Athletics, who moved a game and a half ahead of Southland atop the West Division of the Southeast Conference at 12-1, and they are now 17-3 overall on the season.

Lyle/Pacelli is right back into action tonight at Pacelli against Houston in a Southeast Conference tilt, with the varsity tip-off scheduled for 7:15 p.m.
