The Lyle/Pacelli Athletics, the No. 6 team in the state in the last Class A poll and the No. 2 seed in the Section 1A baseball tournament played host to fifteenth-seeded Houston in the first round of the tournament at Marcusen Park Monday, and after a rain delay of approximately a hour, the Athletics showed why they have a .399 team batting average and average 14 runs a game as they blitzed the Hurricanes 23-0 in five innings.

LP took a 3-0 lead after sending eight men to the plate in the first and cracked the game wide open in the second when they sent 17 men to the plate and scored 12 times with seven hits and five Houston errors in the inning.  The Athletics sent nine more men to the plate in the third and scored three times before batting around again in the fourth inning when they sent ten men to the plate and tallied five more runs.

There were hitting heroes aplenty for Lyle/Pacelli in the game as every member of the starting lineup had at least one hit as Cole Walter was 2 for 5 with a single, a RBI double and five runs scored, Zach Bollingberg was 1 for 4 with a RBI single and four runs scored, Sam Nelsen wound up going 2 for 4 with two RBI singles and four runs scored, Jed Nelson was 1 for 4 with a two RBI double and three runs scored, Hunter Vadeer went 1 for 3 for LP with a two RBI double and two runs scored, Mac Nelson was 2 for 3 with two RBI singles, two walks and a run scored, Jake Truckenmiller was 2 for 5 at the plate with a single and a RBI double, Jayden Lewis racked up three hits in five official trips to the dish as he tallied two singles, a double, a RBI and three runs scored and Landon Meyer was 1 for 3 with a RBI double and a run scored.
