Lyle/Pacelli Athletics boys basketball team wins seventh in a row 79-49 over Mabel-Canton Monday evening

The Lyle/Pacelli Athletics boys basketball team was in search of win number seven in a row Monday night in Mabel versus the Cougars of Mabel-Canton in the Southeast Conference, and senior guad Buay Koak led three Athletics in double figures in scoring with 18 points, plus he added 14 rebounds for a double-double, four assists, three steals and a team-high five blocked shots as Lyle/Pacelli rolled to a 79-49 win.

The Athletics edged out in front 8-7 early in the first half, and they would never trail again as they went on a 25-10 run to open up a 16-point lead at 33-17, and they increased the lead to 18 points at the half, 39-21.  LP kept the lead over 10 points the rest of the way, as leading 55-39, the Athletics cracked the game wide open with a 22-5 run to take a 77-44 lead late in the second half on their way to the win.

Besides Koak’s 18 points, guard Jake Truckenmiller chipped in 17 points, five rebounds, four assists and three steals in the winning effort, Trey Anderson was also in double figures with 15 points, plus he added 12 rebounds for a double-double, two assists and a steal, Mac Nelson contributed eight points, two rebounds, one assist and one steal, Mitchell Johnson scored seven points, plus he added three rebounds and one assist, Hunter Bauer and Dylan Christianson each tallied four points, and Landon Meyer, Othello Stone and David Christianson all scored two points apiece in the win Monday evening.

With the win, Lyle/Pacelli is now 10- 0 in the conference and 13-2 ovearall on the season, and the Athletics will try for win number eight in a row Thursday night at home versus Houston in the Southeast Conference, with the varsity tip-off scheduled for 7:15 p.m.
