Lyle/Pacelli Athletics boys basketball team felled by Houston 78-53 Friday evening
After a win at home versus Mabel-Canton Thursday evening, the Lyle/Pacelli Athletics boys basketball team was looking for back-to-back wins in Houston versus the Hurricanes Friday evening, but it was the Hurricanes defending their home court to the tune of a 78-53 win.
Overby Orthodontics Prep Athlete of the Week Dylan Christianson led three Lyle/Pacelli players in double figures Friday night with 18 points, Landon Meyer totaled 13 points, Chase Bauer was also in double figures Friday night with 11 points, Leland Hicks tallied five points, Isaac Nelsen scored three points, and Marshall Burma totaled two points in a game where the Hurricanes defense held the Athletics to just 3 for 23 shooting from behind the 3-point arc for 13%, while the Hurricanes drained 13 3’s in 24 attempts for a blistering 54.3%, and they were 29 for 53 overall from the floor for 54.7%, while the Athletics were held to 31.4% shooting overall in the game. Lyle/Pacelli did have a decided advantage concerning the number of free throws attempted in the contest, as they were 18 for 30 for 60%, while the Hurricanes were 7 for 10 for 70%.
With the loss, LP is now 7-9 overall and 5-6 in the Southeast Conference, and the Athletics return to action at All Saints Arena Tuesday night versus Lanesboro in a Southeast Conference matchup, with tip-off at 7:15 p.m.
