Lyle/Pacelli Athletics boys basketball team downs Lanesboro 78-54 for 4-0 start

The Lyle/Pacelli Athletics boys basketball team was looking to stay unbeaten on the young 2022-2023 season Tuesday evening as they played host to Lanesboro in a Southeast Conference matchup, and senior guard Buay Koak put up a double-double of 33 points and 13 rebounds, plus he added two steals and a team-high three blocked shots to help to lead the Athletics to a 78-54 win over the Burros.

Lyle/Pacelli opened the game on a 23-3 run and led 41-21 at the half, and they used a 14-5 run to open the second half to take a 55-26 lead on their way to the win.  The Athletics shot a blistering 60% from the field on 2-point field goals, and they also had a whopping 49-28 advantage on the boards in Tuesday night’s victory.

Besides Koak’s 33 points, Hunter Bauer was also in double figures in scoring for LP with 10 points, plus he chipped in six rebounds and a blocked shot, Landon Meyer and Jake Truckenmiller each tallied nine points, with Meyer adding five rebounds, two assists and a steal, and Truckenmiller pulled in six rebounds and added a team-high six assists.  Mac Nelson also scored nine points Tuesday evening, plus he brought in nine rebounds and added an assist, Trey Anderson added four points, six rebounds, three assists and a blocked shot, and David Christianson and Othello Stone each scored two points in the win.

Lyle/Pacelli is 4-0 overall with the win, and the Athletics return to action Friday night in Spring Valley versus Kingsland in another Southeast Conference clash, with the varsity tip-off scheduled for 7:15 p.m.
