Lyle/Pacelli Athletics boys basketball downs Schaeffer Academy 66-59 Tuesday night to move to 6-0

The Lyle/Pacelli Athletics boys basketball team played host to the Schaeffer Academy Lions in a Southeast Conference matchup in Lyle Tuesday night, and senior forward Mac Nelson led four Athletics in double figures in scoring with 17 points as LP rallied back from an eight-point deficit at the half to win 66-59.

With the game tied at six apiece early in the first half, the Lions went on a 10-3 run to take a 16-9 lead, and even though Lyle/Pacelli rallied back with a 14-6 run of their own to take a 23-22 lead, Schaeffer Academy answered back with a 15-6 run to take a 37-29 lead at the halftime break.  The Lions started the second half strong and pushed their lead to as large as 12 at 50-38, but there the comeback started for the Athletics, who fired back with a 21-6 run to re-take the lead at 59-56 late in the second half, and it was a lead LP would not relinquish on their way to the win.

Besides Mac Nelson’s 17 points, senior guard Buay Koak tallied 14 points and 11 rebounds for a double-double, plus he added an assist, two steals and three blocked shots, Jake Truckenmiller put up 10 points, a team-high seven assists, five rebounds and a blocked shot, sophomore center Dylan Christianson also scored 10 points, plus he added three rebounds, one assist and one steal, sophomore guard Landon Meyer chipped in eight points, two rebounds and two assists, Trey Anderson scored five points, plus he pulled in six boards, dished out three assists and added a team-high four steals, and senior forward Hunter Bauer tallied two points in the comeback win.
