Lyle/Pacelli Athletics baseball blitzes Mabel-Canton 21-2 in five innings Tuesday

The Lyle/Pacelli Athletics baseball team was on the road Tuesday for their second game in five days against Mabel-Canton in the Southeast Conference, and an Athletic offense that has scored 15 or more runs in five of the team’s nine games this season was at it again Tuesday as LP broke things wide open with an eight-run top of the 3rd and added six more runs in the top of the 5th on their way to a 21-2, five-inning victory.

Zach Bollingberg and Sam Nelsen, the number two and three hitters in the Lyle/Pacelli lineup led the way offensivley as Bollingberg went 4 for 5 with a double, two triples, four RBI’s and four runs scored, Nelsen was a perfect 4 for 4 with a double, five runs knocked in and three runs scored, Jed Nelson was 2 for 3 with a double, three RBI’s and two runs scored, Hunter VaDeer was 2 for 5 for LP with a double, three RBI’s and three runs scored, Landon Meyer was 2 for 3 with a pair of doubles, two RBI’s and three runs scored, Cole Walter was 1 for 4 with a RBI and four runs scored, Mac Nelson went 1 for 2 with a run scored and a RBI and Jayden Lewis was 1 for 5 with a RBI and a run scored as the Athletics piled up 17 hits in the game, and only 10 of Lyle/Pacelli’s 21 runs were earned as the Cougars committed 10 errors in the contest.

Hunter VaDeer pitched all five innings to pick up the win on the mound for the Athletics as he gave up the two Cougar runs, both earned on two hits, striking out nine and walking two.

With the win, Lyle/Pacelli is a perfect 9-0 on the season, and the Athletics will face a tough test Friday as they host unbeaten Randolph at Marcusen Park with first pitch scheduled for 4:30 p.m.
