Ludemann runs for four TD’s and throws for another to lead Grand Meadow past Lyle/Pacelli 40-14 Friday evening
The Lyle/Pacelli Athletics football team was looking to get back on the winning track in their last regular season home game Friday night in Lyle versus the Grand Meadow Superlarks, who came in winners of two in a row, and it was junior running back and quarterback Corbin Ludemann running for four touchdowns and throwing for another to help lead the Larks past the Athletics in the District 9 Southeast matchup, 40-14.
Lyle/Pacelli took a 6-0 lead with 5:40 left in the first quarter on a 14-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Jake Truckenmiller to running back Trey Anderson, but Grand Meadow wound up taking the lead for good with 4:09 left in the quarter when Ludemann reeled off a 20-yard touchdown run and added the 2-point conversion run to put the Superlarks in the lead, 8-6. Grand Meadow increased their lead to 24-6 at the end of the first half with a 2-yard touchdown run from Ludemann and his 2-point conversion run with 8:09 left in the second quarter, and he added a 21-yard touchdown to wide receiver Jace Kraft just before the second quarter clock ticked down to zero, plus a 2-point conversion pass to Kraft from Connor Munson made the score 24-6 at halftime.
Ludemann continued his big night in the second half on a 7-yard touchdown run and 2-point conversion run with 4:04 left in the 3rd quarter, and his 24-yard touchdown run and 2-point conversion run with 11:17 left in the game increased Grand Meadow’s lead to 40-6. Trey Anderson galloped 72 yards for a touchdown on Lyle/Pacelli’s ensuing drive, and a 2-point conversion pass from Truckenmiller to Hunter Bauer accounted for the 40-14 final score.
A key stat in the game was Grand Meadow winding up +3 in the giveaway/takeaway ratio as the Superlarks turned the ball over once on a fumble, but their defense came away with a fumble recovery and three interceptions to help key their victory. For Lyle/Pacelli, Truckenmiller was 5-15 passing for 69 yards, one touchdown and three interceptions, Trey Anderson carried the ball 20 times for 175 yards and a touchdown, and Hunter Bauer toted the pigskin 10 times for 38 yards.
