Logan Kelly 1st for Austin in 200 meter freestlyle at State Class A Swimming and Diving Meet
Individuals with the Austin Packers boys’ swimming and diving team took part in the State Class A boys’ swimming and diving meet over the weekend at the Jean K. Freeman Aquatic Center at the University of Minnesota, and congratulations to Logan Kelly, who took first in the 200 meter freestyle with a time of 1:43.78, just over a second better than Henry Webb, an 8th grader with Breck/Blake who finished with a time of 1:42.56.
Kelly was also second in the 100 breaststroke with a final time of 55.08, and his time in the first leg of the 200 freestyle relay of 21.11 set a new Austin High School record.  Kelly, along with Winston Walkup, Kenny Cabeen and Riley Haugen took 8th in the event with a time of 1:30.21.
Other competitors for Austin at the state meet included the 200 medley relay team of Walkup, Kelly, Joey Hilkin and Riley Haugen, who took 8th with a time of 1:39.83, Walkup finished 19th for the Packers in the 100 backstroke with a time of 58.05, and Riley Ferguson was 19th in the 1 meter diving competition Thursday with a final score of 217.85.
Austin was 12th overall in the team competition with 81 points.  Breck/Blake was the runaway winner with a total of 418.5 points, Alexandria was second with 250 points, followed by Sartell/St. Stephen in third at 237 points, Hutchinson finished fourth with a total of 136.5 points and Delano/Watertown-Mayer was fifth overall with 119 points.
