LeRoy/Ostrander edges Rushford/Peterson in Section 1A first round game 37-34

Kelly Hanson put up a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds, plus she added three steals and two blocked shots to help lead No. 17-seeded LeRoy/Ostrander past No. 16 seed Rushford/Peterson 37-34 in Section 1A first round girls’ basketball tournament action Tuesday night in Rushford.

Libertee Smalley also helped to lead the way for the Cardinals with nine points, eight rebounds and four steals, plus Sam Volkart added five points, and Gracie O’Bryne and Jordan Runde each added four points in the win for LeRoy/Ostrander, their first of the season. 

The Cardinals advance to play the No. 1 seeded Blooming Prairie Awesome Blossoms Thursday night in Blooming Prairie, with tip-off at 7:00 p.m.  You’ll hear the game live on AM 1480 KAUS, with the pre-game show on the air at 6:45 p.m.  You can also tune in via the world-wide web at myaustinminnesota.com, and on the I Heart Radio app.
