Koak sets single-game scoring record for Lyle/Pacelli boys basketball in 74-37 win over Kingsland Tuesday evening

The Lyle/Pacelli Athletics boys basketball team was back in Lyle Tuesday evening for a Southeast Conference matchup with Kingsland, and senior guard Buay Koak set the single-game scoring record in the program’s history with 43 points, plus he added 11 rebounds for a double-double, one assist, one steal and a team-high four blocked shots in a 74-37 win, the squad’s tenth in a row.

The Athletics netted 12 3-point field goals and shot a blistering 57.8% from the field overall, while holding the Knights to only 23.4% shooting for the game.  Kingsland held an 11-8 lead in the first half when Lyle/Pacelli took off on a 15-2 run to take a lead they would not relinquish at 23-12.  The Athletics outscored the Knights 21-7 the rest of the way in the half to take a 44-19 lead into the halftime break, and LP then opened the second half on a 21-5 run to make the score 62-24 on their way to the win.

Besides Koak’s record-setting night, fellow senior guard Jake Truckenmiller tallied 15 points, four rebounds, a team-high five assists and two steals, Mac Nelson and Hunter Bauer each scored six points, with Nelson adding five rebounds, four assists and a steal, and Bauer pulling in one rebound, dishing out two assists, plus he added two steals and a blocked shot, and Trey Anderson added four points, two rebounds, two assists and two steals in the win.

With the win, Lyle/Pacelli is now 16-2 overall on the season and 13-0 in the Southeast Conference, and the Athletics head back out on the road to Rochester for their next game Thursday night versus the Schaeffer Academy Lions in the Southeast Conference, with the varsity tip scheduled for 7:15 p.m.
