Job growth in Minnesota continued in the month of January

The city of Austin saw a labor force of 12,647 workers in the month of January, with 12,243 employed and 404 unemployed for an unemployment rate of 3.2%, up from 2.8% in December of 2022.  Mower County saw a labor force of 20,675 workers in January, with 20,002 employed and 673 unemployed for an unemployment rate of 3.3%, up from 2.8% in December.  In other county unemployment rates from around our KAUS listening area from January, Freeborn County was at 3.2%, Fillmore County was at 4.2%, Dodge County saw a 3.9% rate of unemployment in January, Steele County was at 3.6%, Olmsted County was at 2.5%, and Waseca County saw an unemployment rate in January of 5.4%.  Minnesota’s unemployment rate held steady at 2.9% and the labor force participation rate remained at 68.1%.
