Iowa restaurants may reopen at full capacity starting Friday

Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds announced today that restaurants in Iowa will be able to open and operate and full capacity, provided 6-feet social distancing can be accomplished.

“Iowa businesses have gone above and beyond to do everything they can to not only protect their employees, but also to protect the clients who come in,” Reynolds said at a press briefing, adding that some responsibility rests with customers to take precautions towards minimizing the risks of spreading COVID-19.

The state has also lifted capacity percentage restrictions for salons and tattoo parlors.

“I believe a majority of businesses will do everything they can to open up in a safe and responsible manner,” Reynolds said.

The state’s current policy prohibiting bottle deposit returns will be revisited at the end of June.
