Iowa man sentenced to supervised probation, jail time for felony DWI charge in Mower County District Court

An Iowa man facing a felony DWI charge in Mower County District Court stemming from an incident that took place on March 15th, 2020 has been sentenced to jail time, supervised probation, fines and fees.

32-year old Alvaro Gilberto Chilel-Morales of Sioux Center, Iowa was convicted and sentenced Thursday to 180 days in jail, five years of supervised probation, 40 hours in the sentence to service program and just over $1,100 in fines and fees for a felony charge of DWI, operating a motor vehicle with an alcohol concentration of .08 or higher within two hours.  A 42-month prison sentence was stayed for five years if Morales complies with the terms of his probation,  and he was given credit for 171 days already served.  

Morales pleaded guilty to the charge on August 2nd, and a felony charge for DWI, operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol and a misdemeanor charge for driving after cancellation in the case were dismissed with Morales’s guilty plea.
