The Blooming Prairie Awesome Blossom boys’ basketball team was on the road in Dodge Center Thursday evening looking for their second win in a row against the Triton Cobras in a non-conference game, and post players Gabe Hagen and Karson Viegland scored  19 and 15 points, respectivley in a 63-50 win.

Triton’s Braxton Munnikhuizen drilled a 3-pointer with less than :30 elapsed to give the Cobras a 3-0 lead, but Blooming Prairie answered with a 9-3 run to take a lead they would not relinquish.  Triton closed the BP lead to one on two different occasions in the first half, but the Blossoms 31-23 at the end of the half and pushed their lead to as large as 21 points in the second half thanks in large part to Hagen and Viegland, who were too much for Triton to handle in the post.  The duo also made several deft passes out of double and sometimes triple teams to find open teammates such as Kaden Thomas, who finished with seven points, Isaac Ille and Jarrett Larson, who both finished with six points and Zach Weber and Drew Kittleson, who both finished with four points.

Haevan Quimby led Triton in scoring with 16 points, 14 of those in the second half, but the Blooming Prairie defense held the Cobras to only six field goals in the second half,  five of those from Quimby.

With the win, Blooming Prairie moves to 9-1 overall on the season.
