Grand Meadow teen injured in one-vehicle accident on Highway 16 in Mower County Wednesday evening

A Grand Meadow teen was injured in a one-vehicle, rollover-type accident on Highway 16 in Mower County Wednesday evening.

The Minnesota State Patrol reported that a 1999 Plymouth Grand Voyager van being driven by 17-year old Summer Jeanne Smith of Grand Meadow was eastbound on Highway 16 at approximately 9:21 p.m. Wednesday evening when she lost control of the vehicle on the snowy and icy road and rolled near the intersection with 760th Avenue in Frankford Township.

Smith was transported to Mayo Clinic/St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.  The State Patrol reported that Smith was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident, and Police and Fire Departments from Grand Meadow, Grand Meadow Ambulance and the Mower County Sheriff’s Office all assisted the State Patrol at the accident scene Wednesday evening.
