The Austin Packers girls’ hockey team closed out the regular season at Riverside Arena Thursday night against the Rochester Mayo Spartans, and on Senior Night, Jordyn McCormack, the lone senior on the squad was one of four different Packers to score in a 4-1 win.

Austin opened the scoring at 10:15 of the 1st period when Kate Holtz scored on the power play, with assists to McCormack and Alexis Stich to put the Packers out in front 1-0.  McCormack added what turned out to be the game-winning goal at 12:46 with assists to Holtz and Stich to stretch the Packers lead to 2-0 at the end of one.

A.J. Barerra tallied the lone goal of the second period only 46 seconds in with assists to Megan Schultz and Cassidy Davidson to make it 3-0, and Isikiyah Hemann’s power play goal at 14:32 of the third with assists to Samantha Krueger and Holtz increased the Packer lead to 4-0.  Mayo’s Nayka Renn tallied at 15:45 to break the shutout.

Austin was 2 for 3 on the power play and Shelby Davidson turned away 24 of the 25 shots she faced between the pipes for the win, while Chloe Ruprecht faced 31 shots and made 27 saves for the Spartans.

The Packers finish the regular sesaon with a record of 10-12, and they now await their seeding in the Section 1A girls hockey playoffs, which will face off next Wednesday night at the high seed at 7:00 p.m.
