Four American Red Cross blood drives coming up in Austin in April

The need for blood donations continues amid the COVID-19 pandemic.  American Red Cross Spokeswoman Sue Thesenga says their blood drives have continued with some added precautions like requiring those that attend to make an appointment ahead of time….

Thesenga says they’ve also set-up disinfecting stations at blood donation sites.  American Red Cross blood drives coming up this month in Mower County include a drive on Friday, April 16th at the YMCA in Austin from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., also at Crane Community Chapel in Austin on Tuesday, April 27th from noon to 6 p.m., at the Hormel Historic Home on Wednesday, April 28th from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and at Austin Utilities on Thursday, April 29th from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The Red Cross continues to urge healthy individuals, especially those with type O blood, to give blood to ensure hospitals can meet patient needs. Schedule a donation appointment by downloading the Red Cross Blood Donor App, visiting RedCrossBlood.org, calling 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767) or enabling the Blood Donor Skill on any Alexa Echo device.
