Female teenager, Austin woman injured in two-vehicle accident in Rochester Sunday evening

Two people, including a woman from Austin were injured in a two-vehicle accident on U.S. Highway 52 in Rochester Sunday evening.

The Minnesota State Patrol reported that a 2012 Honda Civic being driven by a 15-year old female was exiting onto southbound Highway 52 from 41st Street at approximately 6:57 p.m. Sunday evening when she lost control of the vehicle and collided with a 2015 Ford Explorer being driven by 64-year old Dan Michael McFarlane of Oronoco.

The 15-year old female was transported to Olmsted Medical Center while a passenger in her vehicle, 53-year old Rebecca Lynn Nye of Austin suffered non-life threatening injuries, and she was transported to Mayo Clinic/St. Mary’s Hospital for treatment.  McFarlane was uninjured.  

The State Patrol reported that road conditions were wet at the time of the accident, and they added that all parties involved in the accident were wearing their seatbelts.  The Rochester Police and Fire Departments and Mayo Clinic Ambulance all assisted the State Patrol at the accident scene Sunday evening.
