Drought conditions encompassing entire state; portions of Mower, Freeborn and Fillmore Counties in severe drought

Drought conditions are blanketing the entire state of Minnesota.  KAUS News spoke with Pete Boulay, a Climatologist with the Minnesota DNR who stated that all of southeastern Minnesota is currently in a moderate drought, with areas south of Interstate 90 currently experiencing a severe drought…

Boulay went on to say that Minnesota has not experienced drought conditions such as those currently being experienced for quite some time…

Boulay stated that there’s unfortunately no relief for the drought conditions in the immediate future…

The U.S. Drought Monitor map of Minnesota is currently showing all or portions of 61 counties in southern, southwestern, west central, north central, northwestern and the southern tier of counties in the Twin Cities metropolitan area as being in a moderate drought, with all or portions of Mower, Freeborn, Fillmore, Houston, Faribault, Martin, Nobles, Rock, Pipestone, Norman, Polk and Kittson Counties as being in a severe drought.
