Dexter woman injured in two-vehilce accident in Lewiston

A Dexter woman was injured in a two-vehicle accident in Lewiston Saturday afternoon.

The Minnesota State Patrol reported that a 2001 Chevrolet Suburban being driven by 35-year old Melissa Kathryn Deters of Dexter was northbound on Rice Street in Lewiston at approximately 3:16 p.m. Saturday afternoon.  Deters stopped for the stop sign at U.S. Highway 14 and continued on when her vehicle was struck by a 2007 Chrysler Minivan being driven by 58-year old Rickey James Speltz of Altura, which was heading east on Highway 14.

Deters was transported to Mayo Clinic/St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester with non-life threatening injuries, while Speltz was uninjured.  The State Patrol reported that alcohol was not a factor in the accident, and the Winona County Sheriff’s Office and Lewiston Fire and Ambulance assisted the State Patrol at the accident scene.
