CWD testing kits now being offered to hunters

Deer hunters now have another way to test for CWD (Chronic Wasting Disease): right from home.

“This is free of charge to the hunter and hunters could go to the DNR website and sign up to get a kit mailed to them. The hunter would be required to pull out the sample out of their deer,” The DNR’s Eric Hildenbrand says.

“This year CWD is in a larger footprint in Minnesota however still a rare event. Hunters have more opportunities to get their deer tested and make sure to know what DPA you are in so you can make a plan.”

Hildenbrand says keeping Minnesota’s deer healthy remains a top priority.

Hunters will receive their results within 7-10 days after the sample has been submitted.
