COVID-19 vaccination clinic to be held at Austin Utilities Thursday afternoon

The administration of the Pfizer, Moderna and Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccines is continuing not only in Mower County, but around the rest of Minnesota and the country as well.  KAUS News spoke with Pam Kellogg, Division Manager with Mower County Health and Human Services who stated that the county is seeing the pace of vaccinations falling as of late…

The vaccination pace around the rest of the state has been falling in recent weeks as well, as the seven-day trend is down now to its lowest level in more than two months with indications of a significant drop in demand.  The state’s vaccination efforts have been hampered by supply cuts, particularly of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine. Officials, however, also acknowledge the state must do more to connect unvaccinated people to shots.  Kellogg went on to give some reasons, in her view, as to why vaccination rates have been falling…

Kellogg stated that Mower County Health and Human Services have been working with Mayo Clinic Health System to vaccinate students in the Austin Schools, and she added that Mayo will be looking to vaccinate students in the Southland School District as well…

Kellogg went on to note that Mower County Health and Human Services will be holding a COVID-19 vaccination clinic at the offices of Austin Utilities on Thursday from 2:00-3:30 p.m., with the Johnson & Johnson and Moderna vaccines available.  The Minnesota Department of Health reported that at last word in Mower County, 18,005 people out of a total population of 39,807 have received one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, and 15,772 people have received both doses thus far for a total of 39.6% of the county’s overall population completing their vaccine series.
