Congressman and candidate Jason Lewis rushed to emergency surgery

Republican candidate for U.S. Senate Jason Lewis has been rushed to a hospital for emergency surgery, according to his campaign manager.

In a statement, Jason Lewis for Senate campaign manager Tom Szymanski said:

“Early this morning, Congressman Lewis was rushed to the emergency room with severe abdominal pain. Following tests and examination, doctors determined that he is suffering from a severe internal hernia, a diagnosis which they indicated is life-threatening if not treated quickly.”

Lewis is a member of the U.S. House of Representatives from Minnesota’s 2nd district. He is running against incumbent U.S. Senator Tina Smith in the upcoming election.
