Claremont man injured in one-vehicle accident in Mower County Monday evening

A Claremont man suffered non-life threatening injuries in a one-vehicle accident on U.S. Highway 218 in Mower County late Monday evening.

The Minnesota State Patrol reported that a 1984 Chevy pickup truck being driven by 32-year old Shane Curtis Johnson of Claremont was westbound on 534th Avenue in Lansing Township at approximately 10:49 p.m. Monday evening when his vehicle crossed Highway 218 and entered the westbound ditch.

Johnson suffered non-life threatening injuries in the accident, and he was transported to Mayo Clinic Health Systems in Austin for treatment.  The State Patrol reported that Johnson was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the accident, and they added that alcohol was a factor in the crash.

The Mower County Sheriff’s Office and Mayo Ambulance assisted the State Patrol at the accident scene late Monday evening.
