City of Austin sees 3.3% rate of unemployment in February; Mower County at 3.4%
Minnesota reached another milestone on the jobs front. Interim Department of Employment and Economic Development Commissioner Kevin McKinnon:
The city of Austin saw a labor force of 12,248 workers in the month of February, with 12,248 employed and 420 unemployed for an unemployment rate of 3.3%, a slight increase from 3.2% in January. Mower County saw a labor force of 20,721 workers in February, with 20,010 employed and 711 unemployed for an unemployment rate of 3.4%, up from 3.2% in January. In other county unemployment rates for February from around our KAUS listening area, Freeborn County was at 3.5%, Fillmore County was at 4.5%, Dodge County saw a 4.1% rate of unemployment in February, Steele County was at 4%, Olmsted County was at 2.6%, and Waseca County saw a 5.9% rate of unemployment in February. Minnesota’s unemployment rate sits at 3% at last word, compared to the national rate of 3.6%.
