Brackets released for Southern Minny League 17U and 18U tournaments

The brackets for the Southern Minny League 17U and 18U baseball tournaments have been released, and in the 17U bracket Austin has garnered the No. 3 seed, and they will host No. 6 Mankato East at Marcusen Park at 6 p.m. Tueday evening.  Mankato East advanced with a 7-5 win over the weekend against No. 7 seed Kasson/Mantorville.

In other first round play, No. 8 Owatonna upended No. 9 Red Wing 12-4, and they advance to play No. 1 seeded Mankato West Tuesday evening in Mankato.  Fifth-seeded Rochester Mayo outslugged No. 12 seed Northfield over the weekend 11-10, and they move on to play at No. 4 seed Faribault Tuesday evening.  In Austin’s half of the bracket, No. 7 seed Rochester John Marshall will square off with 10th seeded Rochester Century this evening, with the winner moving on to play No. 2 seed Rochester Lourdes Tuesday evening.

In the 18U bracket, Austin earned the top seed, and they will host No. 8 Rochester John Marshall tonight at 6:30 p.m. at Marcusen Park.  JM advanced over the weekend with a 12-2 win over No. 9 Faribault.

In other Southern Minny League 18U playoff quarterfinal matchups, No. 4 Mankato East will entertain No. 5 seed Red Wing this evening, sixth-seeded Mankato West is at three seed Owatonna, and No. 2 Mayo will host No. 7 seed St. Peter.
