Blooming Prairie softball falls to Randolph 12-2 in five innings Thursday
The Blooming Prairie Awesome Blossoms softball team faced a tough test on the road Thursday in Randolph versus the defending State Class A champion Rockets in a Gopher Conference matchup, and it was the Rockets scoring at least one run in every inning on their way to a 12-2, 5-inning win.
The Blossoms were held to three hits by freshman pitcher Carter Raymond, with leadoff hitter Macy Lembke going 1 for 3 with a run scored, and centerfielder Bobbie Bruns picked up the other two hits in the game for BP in two official trips to the plate. The Rockets scored three in the first, four in the second, one in the third, two in the fourth and two in the fifth to end the game via the ten-run rule. Randolph also cashed in on six walks and six Blossoms errors, which led to only five of the 12 Rocket runs on the day being earned.
Blooming Prairie is now 4-2 on the season, and the Blossoms return to action today (Friday) at an invitational at Caswell Park in North Mankato, which will also involve Belle Plaine, Buffalo Lake/Hector/Stewart, Houston, Lake Crystal/Welcome Memorial, Madelia, Maple River and St. James Area, with games at 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.
