Blooming Prairie softball falls to Hayfield Thursday 7-2

The Blooming Prairie Awesome Blossoms softball team was looking for win number three in a row on the road Thursday in a Gopher Conference matchup with Hayfield, but Vikings starting pitcher Caitlyn Hendrickson fanned 14 batters, and helped her own cause with three hits and three runs scored as the Vikings downed the Blossoms 7-2.

Hayfield led 1-0 after one, and after BP tied the game at one with a run in the top of the 3rd, the Vikings came right back to take the lead for good with three runs of their own in the bottom of the inning to lead 4-1.  Hayfield added single runs in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings while the Blossoms only other run of the contest came in the top of the fifth.
Macy Lembke was 1 for 3 for Blooming Prairie and scored both runs for the Blossoms, plus she walked once and stole a base, Bobbie Bruns was 1 for 4 with a RBI, Maren Forystek knocked in the other run for BP by going 1 for 4, pitcher Allison Krohnberg was also 1 for 4, and Alivia Schneider, Lauren Schammel and Lexi Steckelberg were all 1 for 3.
Krohnberg took the loss in the circle for the Blossoms, as she pitched six innings and gave up the seven Viking runs, all earned on nine hits, striking out five and walking three.
Blooming Prairie is now 4-2 on the season, and they return to action in Mapleton Monday afternoon versus Gopher Conference foe Maple River, with first pitch at 4:30 p.m.
