In a game you heard Tuesday evening on AM 1480 KAUS, the Blooming Prairie Awesome Blossoms girls’ basketball team, with only one loss on the season played host to winless Kenyon-Wanamingo in non-conference tilt, and though the shots were not falling for the Blossoms Tuesday evening, their defense and rebounding helped them edge the Knights 38-35.

Kenyon-Wanamingo stayed in a 2-3 zone the entire game and not only frustrated the Blossoms in shooting the basketball, but they also forced 13 BP turnovers in the game.  Blooming Prairie, though, who came into the game giving up only 37 points per game forced 19 Knights turnovers and kept several possessions alive down the home stretch with offensive rebounds to eventually turn away Kenyon-Wanamingo, who was led in scoring by Tessa Erlandson, who swished three 3-point field goals on her way to 15 points.

Megan Oswald was the lone Blosssom in double figures with 14 points, Maggie Bruns, Emily Miller and Allison Krohnberg each tallied five points, Maren Forystek hit one of BP’s three 3-point field goals in scoring four points, Anna Pauly chipped in three points and Bobbie Bruns added two points in the win for the Blossoms, who were 7 of 18 from the free throw line while Kenyon-Wanamingo was 4 for 9.

With the win, Blooming Prairie moves to 8-1 overall on the season, and the Blossoms return to action Friday night in Faribault to meet Bethlehem Academy, with the varsity tip-off at 7:15 p.m.
