The pairings for the Section 1A boys’ basketball tournament were released over the weekend, and the Blooming Prairie Awesome Blossoms, with a record of 21-3 earned the number one overall seed.  The Blossoms will open tournament play against either No. 16 seed United Christian Academy or No. 17 seed Glenville/Emmons, as those two teams will meet this evening at 7:00 p.m.  The winner moves on to play at Blooming Prairie Thursday night at 7:00 p.m.

In seeding results for other area teams, the Southland Rebels will be the eighth seed with a record of 9-14 and will host No. 9 seed and defending section champion Spring Grove Thursday night  at 7:00 p.m., with the winner moving on to play the winner of the Blooming Prairie game the same night on Wednesday, March 4th at 6:00 p.m. at the Mayo Civic Arena.  Grand Meadow will be the No. 5 seed with a record of 18-7 and will host No. 12 seed LeRoy/Ostrander Thursday night at 7 p.m.  The winner will meet either No. 4 seed Schaeffer Academy or No. 13 Lanesboro at the Mayo Civic Arena Wednesday, March 4th at 7:30 p.m.  The Hayfield Vikings, with a record of 21-5 earned the No. 2 seed and will play either No. 15 Fillmore Central or No. 18 seed Mabel/Canton Thursday night at 7 p.m., with the winner moving on to play in the Mayo Civic Auditorium Wednesday, March 4th at 6:00 p.m. against either No. 7 seed Rushford/Peterson or No. 10 seed Wabasha/Kellogg.  The Lyle/Pacelli Athletics, who finished the regular season with a record of 18-7 will be the No. 6 seed and will host No. 11 seed Houston at All Saints Arena at Pacelli High School Thursday night at 7:00 p.m., with the winner moving on to play Wednesday, March 4th at 7:30 p.m. at the Mayo Civic Arena against either No. 3 seed Randolph, No. 14 seed Kingsland or No. 19 seed Bethlehem Academy.  The Knights and Cardinals will square off tonight in Spring Valley at 7:00 p.m., with the winner moving on to take on the Rockets in Randolph Thursday night at 7 p.m.  You’ll hear the Lyle/Pacelli/Houston matchup Thursday night on AM 1480 KAUS, with the pre-game show at 6:45 p.m. and tip-off at 7:00 p.m.  You’ll also be able to listen online at www.myaustinminnesota.com and on the I Heart Radio app.

After the games on Wednesday, March 4th, the Section 1A boys’ basketball tournament will continue on Saturday, March 7th with the semi-finals at 11:00 a.m. and 1 p.m. at the Mayo Civic Auditorium, and the Section 1A final will be played on Thursday, March 12th at the Mayo Civic Arena.
