Blooming Prairie Awesome Blossoms softball team edged by Bethlehem Academy 4-3 Monday

The Blooming Prairie Awesome Blossoms softball team traveled to North Alexander Park in Faribault Monday for a Gopher Conference matchup with a strong Bethlehem Academy squad, who currently trail first-place Randolph by one game atop the conference.  The Blossoms were able to tie the game at 3 apiece with a run in the top of the third, but a run for the Cardinals in the bottom half of the inning proved to be the eventual game-winner in a 4-3 decision.

Blooming Prairie jumped out to a 2-0 lead with a pair of runs in the top of the first, only to see FBA come back with three in their half of the inning to take a 3-2 lead.  After the Cardinals took the 4-3 lead in the third inning, pitcher Morgan Wilson was able to shut down the Blossoms offense the rest of the way, holding Blooming Prairie to four hits, striking out five and walking two.

Offensively for the Blossoms, shortstop Macy Lembke was 2 for 3 out of the leadoff spot in the batting order with two runs scored, Shawntee Snyder went 1 for 3 with an RBI and a run scored, and catcher Layla Lembke was 1 for 3 with a run knocked in.

Pitcher Haven Carlson went the distance in the circle for Blooming Prairie and gave up the four FBA runs, all earned, on 11 hits, striking out three and walking one.  The Cardinals were able to earn the win despite committing three errors, while the Blossoms played error-free softball Monday.

With the loss, Blooming Prairie is now 7-8 on the season, and the Blossoms return to action at home today (Tuesday) versus Medford in another Gopher Conference matchup, with first pitch scheduled for 4:30 p.m.
