Blooming Prairie Awesome Blossoms softball downed by Randolph 10-2 Monday
After going 1-2 at the Caswell Invitational at Caswell Park in North Mankato over the weekend, the Blooming Prairie Awesome Blossoms played host to defending State Class A champion and No. 2 ranked Randolph in a Gopher Conference matchup Monday, and it was the Rockets coming away with a 10-2 win.
Randolph belted out 11 hits in the game and scored one in the first, three in the second, three in the fourth, one in the fifth and two in the sixth, and sophomore pitcher Carter Raymond and the Rockets defense did the rest, as Raymond gave up the two Blooming Prairie runs, one earned, on four hits, striking out eight with no walks. Third baseman Shawntee Snyder picked up two of BP’s four hits in the game in three trips to the plate and scored a run, while shortstop Macy Lembke went 1 for 4 with an RBI out of the leadoff spot. Catcher Layla Lembke accounted for the other RBI in the game for the Blossoms, and first baseman Lexi Steckelberg was 1 for 3 with a run scored.
With the loss, Blooming Prairie is now 4-6 on the season, and the Blossoms will be looking to get back on the winning track today (Tuesday) as they kick off a three-game road trip in Spring Valley versus GMLOK in a non-conference matchup, with first pitch scheduled for 4:30 p.m.
