Blooming Prairie Awesome Blossoms girls basketball team rallies in the second half to down Kenyon/Wanamingo 46-37 Tuesday evening

The Blooming Prairie Awesome Blossoms girls basketball team was looking to snap a three-game losing streak at home Tuesday night versus Kenyon/Wanamingo, and in what proved to be a turnover-filled battle between two good defensive teams, the Blossoms were able to make a 10-0 run over the first eight minutes of the second half to take control of the game and win 46-37.

The Blossoms trailed 21-20 at the half after giving up an early eight-point lead, but the club’s height took over in the second half with what Head Coach John Bruns cited as a great effort on the boards on both ends of the floor.  Late in the game with Kenyon/Wanamingo making a run, it was Shawntee Snyder and Claire Schwarz hitting big 3’s to keep the Knights at bay, and Anna Pauly and Macy Lembke each went 4 for 4 from the foul line down the stretch to help seal the win.

Lembke led BP offensively with 11 points, while Pauly chipped in 10 points, Shawntee Snyder swished a 3-pointer on her way to nine points, Addison Doocy scored five points and pulled in a career-high 13 rebounds, Haven Carlson tallied four points and also pulled in a career-high in rebounds with 15, Chloe McCarthy also  scored four points and Claire Schwarz netted a 3-pointer for three points in the win.

Blooming Prairie is now 7-9 overall on the season, and 6-5 in the Gopher Conference.  The Blossoms return to action Friday night in Watertown versus Waterville-Elysian-Morristown, with the varsity tip at 7:15 p.m.
