Blooming Prairie Awesome Blossoms girls basketball team felled by Winona Cotter 59-44 Saturday

The Blooming Prairie Awesome Blossoms girls basketball team tangled with a very quick and athletic Winona Cotter squad in a non-conference game in Blooming Prairie Saturday, and although the Blossoms trailed by only one point at the half at 16-15, the Ramblers were able to pull away in the last nine minutes of the contest to win 59-44, their third straight victory and sixth in their last seven games.

The Blossoms were led offensively by guard Shawntee Snyder, who tallied 14 points, Macy Lembke was also in double figures in scoring with 10 points, Anna Pauly chipped in seven points and a team-high 10 rebounds, Addison Doocy added six points, Clair Schwarz contributed three points and Sienna Fyksen and Haven Carlson each scored two points in the game that saw a huge free-throw advantage for the Blossoms, who were 14 for 24  from the charity stripe compared to only 2 for 2 for Cotter, but the Ramblers were able to drain 11 3-point field goals to only two for BP.

With the loss, Blooming Prairie is now 6-9 overall on the season, and the Awesome Blossoms are back in action Tuesday night at home versus Kenyon/Wanamingo, with the varsity tip-off scheduled for 7:15 p.m.
