Blooming Prairie Awesome Blossoms girls basketball team falls to St. Charles 50-48

The Blooming Prairie Awesome Blossoms girls basketball team kicked off a two-game, regular-season ending homestand Thursday night versus the St. Charles Saints out of the Three Rivers Conference in a non-conference matchup, and it was the Saints pulling out a 50-48 win.

The Blossoms led 29-25 at the half, but a very scrappy and athletic Saints squad was able to rally, and Blossoms Head Coach John Bruns stated that turnovers and free throws proved to also be the difference in the loss as although BP shot 31 free throws to 19 for St. Charles, the club made only 16 of them for 51%, while the Saints did just enough at the charity stripe in draining nine of their attempts for 47%.

Haven Carlson and Anna Pauly each registered double-doubles for the Blossoms, with Carlson scoring 13 points and pulling in 10 rebounds, while Pauly tallied 12 points and 10 boards.  Claire Schwarz and Macy Lembke both drained a 3-pointer apiece on their way to nine points, and Shawntee Snyder added five points.  Makadyn Gust led all scorers in the game with 23 points for the Saints.

With the loss, Blooming Prairie is now 10-12 overall on the season and 9-6 in the Gopher Conference, and the Blossoms close out the regular season at home tonight versus Faribault Bethlehem Academy in a Gopher Conference matchup, with tip-off set for 7:15 p.m.  You’ll hear the game tonight on AM 1480 KAUS, myaustinminnesota.com, and on the I Heart Radio and radio.com apps, with the pre-game show getting underway at 7:00 p.m.
