Blooming Prairie Awesome Blossoms girls basketball team falls to Dover/Eyota 60-53 Friday night

The Blooming Prairie Awesome Blossoms girls basketball team played host to the Dover/Eyota Eagles in the second game of a four-game homestand Friday night, and in a game that saw a quick pace the entire way, a 10-2 run for the Eagles in the opening five minutes of the second half gave them a nine-point lead, and it proved to be a lead they would not relinquish in a 60-53 win.

The Blossoms had four players in double figures in scoring Friday evening, led by Macy Lembke and Anna Pauly who both finished with 11 points, with Lembke hitting both of BP’s 3-pointers in the game and Pauly pulling in nine rebounds, Haven Carlson and Shawntee Snyder each scored 10 points, with Carlson hooking in nine boards, Addison Doocy and Chloe McCarthy each tallied four points and Claire Schwarz chipped in three points for the Blossoms Friday night.  Madi Mullikin led all scorers with 19 points, and a big factor in the win for Dover/Eyota Friday night was free throw shooting, with the Eagles shooting 42 free throws to 19 for Blooming Prairie, and the Eagles made 24 of them to nine for the Blossoms.

With the loss, Blooming Prairie is now 6-8 overall on the season and 5-5 in the Gopher Conference, and the Blossoms are right back on the court at home Saturday versus Winona Cotter in another non-conference matchup, with the varsity tip-off at 3:00 p.m.
