Blooming Prairie Awesome Blossoms girls basketball team downs Southland 74-31 Tuesday evening
The Blooming Prairie Awesome Blossoms girls basketball team kicked off a regular season-ending two game homestand Tuesday evening versus the Southland Rebels from the Southeast Conference, and it was the Blossoms holding the Rebels to only six points in the second half, while getting out to a torrid start of their own offensively in a 74-31 victory.
The Blossoms led 34-25 at halftime and scored 35 unanswred points to start the second half to crack the non-conference matchup wide open. Shawntee Snyder led three Blossoms in double figures in scoring Tuesday evening with 26 points, Claire Schwarz drained three of BP’s eight 3-pointers in the game on her way to 18 points, Macy Lembke also drained a trio of 3’s in scoring 17 points, Addison Doocy totaled eight points, Caitlyn Stangl drained a 3 for three points, and Catelyn Bartlett chipped in two points in the win. For Southland, Avery Stroup and Breeley Galle were both in double figures in scoring with 11 and 10 points, respectively, Emma Lewison tallied four points, and Katelyn McCabe and Shannon Kiefer each scored three points apiece.
With the win, the Blossoms are now 16-8 overall on the season, while the Rebels are 6-17 overall with the loss. Blooming Prairie closes out the regular season with a Gopher Conference matchup with rival Hayfield Thursday evening at 7:15 p.m., while the Rebels are on the road for a second straight non-conference game Thursday night, this one at Kenyon-Wanamingo, with varsity tip-off also at 7:15 p.m. that evening.
