Blooming Prairie Awesome Blossoms girls basketball team downs Pine Island 48-26 Thursday evening
In a game you heard on AM 1480 KAUS, the Blooming Prairie Awesome Blossoms girls basketball team was looking to wrap up a three-game homestand with a win versus Pine Island in a non-conference matchup, and it was the Blossoms with three players in double figures in scoring, and their defense forced 25 Panther turnovers in a 48-26 win.
The Blossoms jumped out to a 5-0 lead to start the game, only to see Pine Island rally back with a 7-0 run to take what would turn out to be their only lead of the game at 7-5. Blooming Prairie answered back with a 14-3 run to take a 19-10 lead, and they would push their lead to 11 at the half at 24-13. The Blossoms did not let the Panthers gain a foothold in the second half as they opened the half on a 12-5 run to open up a 19-point lead at 36-17, and they would pushed their lead to as large as 20 on their way to their second win in a row.
Shwantee Snyder led Blooming Prairie in scoring Thursday night with 14 points, both Addison Doocy and Macy Lembke scored 10 points apiece, with Lembke draining three of BP’s five 3-pointers in the game, Claire Schwarz drilled two 3’s on her way to eight points, Ella Smith scored four points, and Sienna Fyksen chipped in two points in the victory.
The Blossoms are now 10-3 overall and 5-2 in the Gopher Conference, and Blooming Prairie will return to the court next Tuesday in Faribault versus Bethlehem Academy in the Gopher Conference, with tip-off scheduled for 7:15 p.m.
